Design & Technology Department

Welcome to the Design & Technology Department web area. The Design and Technology Curriculum has been designed to develop an ability to appreciate and design a range of products. All projects undertaken will focus on creative design or making activities.

The Design and Technology department covers an array of subjects, ranging from electronics to food technology. In Key Stage 3 students follow an integrated foundation course, which prepares them for their option at GCSE. Currently the Department offers successful courses in Food, Textiles, Resistant Materials, Graphic Products, Electronics and Health & Social care. At post 16 the department offers courses in A-Level product Design and Applied Engineering, Food Technology and Health & Social Care.

The department boasts some of the best facilities at a school, due to Technology College Status. For example, there are 50 networked computers and a range of CAD/CAM equipment which include an Industrial standard 3D router, an industrial kitchen and two laser cutters, which are specifically used for rapid prototyping and modelling. Each room also has multimedia projector facilities.
