Digital Media is an exciting curriculum choice to make at A-level. It focuses on how the media constructs an interpretation of the world and how the practical process of media production works. By applying key concepts such as representation, audience theory and textual analysis you will learn to develop a critical approach to the media. It offers students the opportunity to explore all aspects of today's media: newspapers, magazines, TV, film, radio, advertising and the internet. Students are also given the opportunity to undertake some practical production of media products such as producing scenes for a particular genre of film, storyboards for trailers, magazine design and audio-visual production.

- suite of 24 Apple Macs and HD digital recording equipment. Editing is completed using Final Cut Express and print/web-based media using Adobe Design Premium CS4.
A wide variety of teaching and learning styles are used including class discussions, group work, paired and individual presentations, use of the internet and of new technologies as well as practical work and research.
The UK's media industry is exciting and competitive. It requires talented, multi-skilled people who successfully use their creativity, imagination, critical skills, and technical and design abilities, to turn their ideas into effective media products. This A-level will help students to explore their interests in the media world and perhaps prepare them for a career in film and television, advertising or public relations, print and broadcast journalism or digital media.
